Romney gets Borked
Edited on Thu Oct-20-11 01:45 PM by Hawaii Hiker
The SCOTUS is reason enough to ALWAYS vote Democratic in each & every election...

http://fairandunbalancedblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/romney-gets-borked.html

"Currently co-chair of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's Justice Advisory Committee, Bork was interviewed by Newsweek, and provided these disturbing gems:

•He acknowledged that opposing 1960's landmark civil rights legislation on the ground that government coercion of “righteous” behavior is “a principle of unsurpassed ugliness.”
•He still disagrees with the Supreme Court’s 1965 decision in Griswold v. Connecticut which struck down as a violation of the right to privacy a law that prohibited married couples from using contraceptives.
•He maintains the First Amendment should be limited to political speech and not protect, “any other form of expression, be it scientific, literary or…pornographic”
•He does not believe the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause should apply to women. According to Bork,"it seems to me silly to say, ‘Gee, they’re discriminated against and we need to do something about it.’ They aren’t discriminated against anymore."

1. The day after Mitt gets the nomination, Bork will be muzzled.
Romney's using Bork as part of his current program of convincing the Tea Party types that he really is a fully certified and certifiable lunatic right-winger.

Once he's the nominee, he'll figure that those people are in the bag, just because they have nowhere else to go. At that point his program is to look moderate to appeal to independents and conservative Democrats. Bork has no place in that Phase II operation. His ties to the Romney campaign will become much less prominent.
