Romney, Republicans criticize Iraq withdrawal decision
Daily Kos: Romney Blasts Obama Over Iraq Withdrawal Decision

<...>

According to USA Today, Romney has released the following statement:

"President Obama's astonishing failure to secure an orderly transition in Iraq has unnecessarily put at risk the victories that were won through the blood and sacrifice of thousands of American men and women....

The unavoidable question is whether this decision is the result of a naked political calculation or simply sheer ineptitude in negotiations with the Iraqi government. The American people deserve to hear the recommendations that were made by our military commanders in Iraq."
<...>

TPM: Bachmann: Iraq Withdrawal A 'Political' -- Not 'Military' -- Decision

"Today's announcement that we will remove all of our forces from Iraq is a political decision and not a military one; it represents the complete failure of President Obama to secure an agreement with Iraq for our troops to remain there to preserve the peace and demonstrates how far our foreign policy leadership has fallen. In every case where the United States has liberated a people from dictatorial rule, we have kept troops in that country to ensure a peaceful transition and to protect fragile growing democracies. We will now have fewer troops in Iraq than we have in Honduras – despite a costly and protracted war.

"President Obama's decision represents the end of the era of America's influence in Iraq and the strengthening of Iran's influence in Iraq with no plan to counter that influence. We have been ejected from a country by the people that we liberated and that the United States paid for with precious blood and treasure. The administration claims that we got exactly what we needed, but today's announcement demonstrates otherwise. The United States needed a working democratic partnership in Iraq and we should have demanded that Iraq repay the full cost of liberating them given their rich oil revenues. I call on the president to return to the negotiating table with Iraq and lead from the front and not from weakness in Iraq and in the world."

TPM: Graham On Iraq Announcement: 'I Respectfully Disagree'

<...>

“I respectfully disagree with President Obama. I feel all we have worked for, fought for, and sacrificed for is very much in jeopardy by today’s announcement. I hope I am wrong and the President is right, but I fear this decision has set in motion events that will come back to haunt our country.”

4. The GOPer's comments are to be expected. The people
voted for Obama because of his promise to get the hell out of Iraq. He came through despite stringent opposition from the right as always.

6. OTOH, there are many DU'ers here that are making every effort
to demolish the only Dem Candidate running for President, so the Republican Candidate can put those troops right back there. Romney, Bachmann and Graham are pleased at that prospect, I'm sure.

What did the other presidential candidates say about this, such as Cain and Perry? Did any support it besides Paul and Hunter?

8. Martin Bashir on MSNBC and his guests ridiculed Romney's statement. Bashir
read it and then laughed for a second and said, "WHAT? Is he joking?" And Goldie Taylor said something like, "He obviously doesn't know what he's talking about."

Some of them quit as soon as the war was announced. They didn't want to be part of what Bush was bringing.

11. Who knew?!!
All sarcasm aside, I told my daughter that the Reps would find something negative about this by tomorrow. They beat my prediction by a day. It's just sad that they are so predictable in their Obama Derangement Syndrome.

17. Very predictable.
I've been in my truck all day, and I purposely scanned all the right-wing radio shows. Not one peep about the end of the war.

It's because Grover Norquist and the Heritage Foundation haven't got a clue how to deal with this obvious Obama success. The timing of the announcement was perfect: Friday morning. Limbaugh, Hannity and their second- and third-tier righties already had their talking points from Grover the night before.

Now, they have to get their shit together by Sunday morning when the gasbag shows air. Bachmann and Romney are out in front. Expect these talking points to be hammered 24-7 by Monday morning.

Meanwhile, I listened to Ed Schultz and Mike Papantonio. They were having a blast.

This is a really good day!
