BAM! BOMBSHELL:Romney's MA health care plan was open to illegal immigrants
Edited on Mon Oct-24-11 10:56 AM by Pirate Smile
This is exactly what Perry was looking for:

Medical help for illegal immigrants could haunt Mitt Romney
On the Republican campaign trail, he derides any such public aid. But the healthcare law he signed as Massachusetts governor allows it.

Reporting from Washington— The Massachusetts healthcare law that then-Gov. Mitt Romney signed in 2006 includes a program known as the Health Safety Net, which allows undocumented immigrants to get needed medical care along with others who lack insurance.

Uninsured, poor immigrants can walk into a health clinic or hospital in the state and get publicly subsidized care at virtually no cost to them, regardless of their immigration status.

The program, widely supported in Massachusetts, drew little attention when Romney signed the trailblazing healthcare law. But now it could prove problematic for the Republican presidential hopeful, who has been attacking Texas Gov. Rick Perry for supporting educational aid for children of undocumented immigrants in Texas.

"We have to turn off the magnet of extraordinary government benefits," Romney said at the recent Fox News-Google debate in Florida.

Flip Flop Mitt strikes again.

Of course, this was the issue that Joe Wilson screamed "You Lie!" at President Obama regarding (and Obama wasn't lying) and now they are going to nominate a guy that did just that.

The next debate should be interesting.

I swear there is no issue that Romney wont be a total hypocrit regarding - add this one to his new openness to the flat tax.

1. I'd love to see the Repubs response if a bunch of them
ended up with hepatitis, the flu, etc., from eating food prepared in a restaurant by someone who could not afford health care nor could afford to take a day off. When I say 'afford', in many restaurants, calling out for any reason means you will lose either shifts on future schedules, or lose your job altogether, and they don't care how sick you are.

Get hepatitis, and then think about this........

6. They don't care about the health implications of their stupid, hateful policy proposals. We've seen
in Alabama how all the warnings regarding their nasty immigration law's effects on children and on the agricultural industry were totally ignored. They don't care. Oh, sure, if something happened and there was a dangerous outbreak of hepatitis or something that made them sick then they would just blame the government - that is their standard operating procedure for everything no matter what.

2. Oh god
If Republicans nominate romney Obama andhis people are going to have a field day with romney. The minute he would critize health care reform In a debate Obama has
plenty to go after romney with.

We could have a repeat of 2004 with romney as kerry only this time Obama and his people don't have to lie.romney Is more of a flip flooper than kerry ever was.
Romney has no convictions. He changes at top of a hat.Plus the Massachusetts Health care reform has been called more liberal than Obama's.That Isn't going to go over
well with the right wingers.

17. Kerry was NOT a flip flopper period
He is one of the most consistent politicians I have seen and he has many strongly held convictions. I am still trying to figure out who this media Romney is like Kerry theme benefits. The similarities are very superficial - elite background and from Massachusetts, but as the Dean people knew, Kerry actually did very well at retail campaigning - which is why he won Iowa with less money, no media support worth speaking of and fewer superdelegates than Dean. (PS Don't even both saying it was Christie Vilsak, because Hillary had both Vilsaks and came in third) Romney genuinely has trouble connecting with people.

I have seen Kerry and he connects very well.

21. Kerry
I don't believe Kerry was flipflooper. That was part of Bush's lies. The point Is how Bush's people lied about Kerry as flipflooper Obama's people can go after
romney.Only with romney there are no lies with the flipflooper.

22. Sorry - I over reacted, but I am sick of this meme -
First of all, I doubt it will be Obama's strategy - because it won't be needed. The Republican opponents are likely to make his lack of any real convictions, positions or vision an issue that they hit hard on. Their dysfunctional pack is very likely to bring all the nominees down or at least severely wounded.

For Obama, it, in particular, will not be useful in the general election to hit Romney on the MA healthcare plan. At that point, we want his strongest condemnation of it and his promise to repeal it day 1 (who cares if that is possible.) The fact is well over half the population are in favor of it. It will look as ridiculous if he rejects his position of October 2011 in the general election as Perry did when he rejected his book's , written last year, positions. In Romney's case, it is compounded by his earlier support.

But, I hope the ASPCA is asked to comment on traveling from MA to Canada with a dog on the roof of the car.

no less a great politician than Kennedy coined multiple choice Mitt in reference to his abortion position. Romney is a flip flopper nearly without equal.

Obama 2012 campaign keeps up attacks on Romney

By David Nakamura

HAMPTON, Va. — Mitt Romney might still be having trouble putting away his challengers for the Republican presidential nomination, but the Obama campaign continues to treat him like their top competitor.
Obama 2012 is taking shots at the former Massachusetts governor at nearly every opportunity these days, even when an opening is not necessarily obvious.

An example: The Washington Post reported Wednesday that the Republican candidates have been criticizing Obama for relying too heavily on teleprompters when he gives speeches.
Asked by the Post to respond to the criticism, the Obama campaign instead chose to go after Romney.

“We hear the Romney campaign will start providing their candidate with a transcript of what he said the day before, just in case he suddenly decides he wants to stand by it,” Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said in an e-mail to the Post.

LaBolt’s dig comes a week after Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod hammered Romney for 20 minutes during a conference call with reporters, painting him as a flip-flopper on issues ranging from taxes to health care.

The ammo Romney provides is stunning. He is truly core-less. I remember reading someone describing him as only standing for being an opportunist. He'll support or say anything if he thinks it will help him politically - and, yes, he'll flip to the other side within hours if the opportunism seems ripe.

20. Yep. Joe Wilson should go to a rally and holler at Slippery Mitt.
Romney: "Nothing in the bill went to those who were in Massachusetts illegally."

Wilson: "YOU LIE!"

Another audience member: "What about your landscapers?"
