1. Too bad voting isn't done by Public Opinion polls... |
|
I'm not seeing any sign that Cain has a ground operation in place in Iowa or money for advertising in South Carolina to take advantage of his current popularity.

he's funded by the Koch brothers.
Still, I see no situation in which a black man could be nominated by Republican voters in an open, free primary election. No way.

The name Colin Powell was brought up time and time again. He was a black man who could have won a Republican Primary. And Obama proved that a black man can win the general election.
Consider also that there are a fair number of black conservatives, and enough of them in a heavily black state could help tip a fair number of delegates one way or another.
Also, there are enough early "winner take all" primaries in the North that could give a black candidate a fighting chance.
Either way, just as Huckabee and Romney helped cripple the "inevitable" McCain in the general election, a strong Cain with right wingers behind him could help weaken Romney.

9. I don't think Powell could have won a Republican primary |
|
If he did, he could have won the election, no doubt.
But let's not forget that the Republican party is deeply racist. He would have never won that primary, because the GOP base is racist at its core.

13. Plus, Cain is LOVED by the Religious Right... |
|
And the Religious Right does not like the Mormon Romney...So, I could see Cain running away with the nomination especially considering many of Perry supporters will flock to Cain as time rolls on...That is actually happening right now. Cain's numbers are increasing as Perry's fall.
We will see!
Plus, don't count out the fact we could run our own version of "Operation Chaos"!!

15. You obviously don't understand them... |
|
People with blatant racist characteristics will let a black man "carry their water". They have no problems with skin color as long as he's "one of them". I've known complete racists that drop the n-word daily but wear a football jersey of a black athlete. Most modern day "mainstream racists" hate black "culture" not black skin. Translation... Have a close cropped haircut, a polo shirt and an expensive pair of denim jeans and speak like Will Smith's TV brother and you're one of them... But droop your pants, sport some cornrows and speak like Dr. Dre and they call you a n_____.

|
"see I'm not a racist" when of course they most certainly are racists.

...and he appears to be that, then he already has a de facto organization in place. A powerful one that is spread nationwide.

There is no way that the GOP will nominate a black man for president. Just no way. Even if he is crazy.

6. Romney and Cain each have a ceiling of support |
|
I'm hoping for a three or four way split coming into Tampa, with the abovementioned candidates each having only 30-35 percent of the delegates.

23. There are two different types of racists |
|
The vast majority of racists who vote in the GOP primaries are Jesse Helms/Archie Bunker types. This group has no problem liking black conservatives. Only the hardcore, White Nationalist, KKK, David Duke types will not vote for him. They are tiny, even in a GOP primary.

3. That poll is over a 5-6 day period. |
|
And I think it doesn't totally account for the debate.
I hate to say it, but this reminds me of what happened to McCain in 2008. McCain tanks, it looks over and he comes back. Perry can do the same thing. People won't vote for Romney and will go to the next person that looks like a winner.

Granted, it relied on Huckabee and Romney taking each other out while Giuliani imploded, but it worked and didn't involve desperate new tax plans. Perry is scrabbling below Ron Paul territory.

And if Cain is supposed to be a stalking horse for Romney, they'd better not let Cain's supporters down TOO hard. Some of them might not turn out for Mittens.
