7. The Flat candidate.

For some reason, when I saw this cartoon it reminded me of Dickey Flatt, the guy Phil Graham used to talk about all the time, apparently ignorant of how ridiculous it sounded to be invoking an image of flat dicks in front of a national TV audience. Maybe that is why his presidential candidacy went nowhere in 1996. That and his schoolmarmish scolding attitude, which was in full display in 2008 with his talk of a "mental recession" and a "nation of whiners." Rick Perry strikes me as someone in the fine Texas tradition of clueless politicians like Phil Graham who think they can just wing it when it comes to connecting with voters.
