3. It's not really about protecting the rich (or anyone) from taxes. |

It's about starving the beast. If government is starved, it allows others (churches/media/corporations) to sieze social control.
The fact that people want/expect/acknowledge the need for higher taxes is really inconvenient but not relevant.
