1. All those kids wearing parkas!

That's certainly a commentary on how bone-chillingly wet and cold it was today.

But the kids were cute, and I loved the moment when two of them came up and hugged the Obamas.

2. Too cute!

We sure miss getting the cute trick-or-treaters. We live in a condo in the middle of a large city now, so we never get any these days. It's so sad. I used to always love the one twelve-year-old amongst all the little fairy princesses and Star Wars kids who inevitably shows up at your door dressed as ... nothing. We would always ask such a joker, "and who are you tonight?" and wait for the caustic reply.

I'm glad the Obamas decided to give out M&Ms this year. Way back in the early 80s, when there was the apocryphal razor-blade-in-the-apple scare, we decided to give out (get this), cute pencils and erasers. That went over like a lead balloon, and we're lucky we didn't get egged. Ever since, we gave out candy pure and simple. Alas, since we get no t & ts anymore, we're having to do with dropping off some posh Halloween cookies we bought at a bakery to the two little boys who live on our floor.

I don't get trick-or-treaters either, though I would enjoy seeing them.

how lovely to see Mrs. Robinson there. Hope it annoys them...LOL.
