1. Texas deserves Perry
I just saw him on TV trying to be funny ... and all can do is laugh at him and not at his jokes.

9. Beg to differ. Texas deserves much better.
Ann Richards comes to mind.

13. RIP ... When there was Class in Texas
My point is, if they are laughing at his jokes, then they don't really know who the joke is!

3. He never had it--nor has any Democrat since Jimmy Carter
Edited on Mon Oct-31-11 09:54 AM by frazzled
Texas hasn't voted for a Democratic president since 1976 -- 35 years ago.

Bill Clinton lost Texas, twice. John Kerry lost Texas. All of 'em.

So it's hardly a surprise that Obama is "losing" Texas.

7. I don't get your point
Are you saying that it's good that he's in the margin of error, given how poorly Democratic candidates have fared there in the past?

Or are you saying (stupidly, imo) that it shows how bad things are if he's even losing to someone like Mittens there. Because that isn't an argument. Why would that be different than Carter losing there to Reagan in 1980, Mondale losing to Reagan there in 1984, Dukakis losing to George H.W. Bush there in 1988, Clinton losing consecutively to Bush and Dole there in 92 and 96?

16. What I'm saying is that Obama could beat Romney in Texas. He's within the MOE against Romney.
Edited on Mon Oct-31-11 12:26 PM by flpoljunkie
It is apparent Texans do not like Romney at all. They may hold their noses and vote for him, but they may also stay home. Not likely, but within the realm of possibilities.

11. It's a way to make Obama look like he's doing worse than he did previously, or worse
than other Dem Presidents and candidates. The old librul media at work.

14. Actually, those numbers are pretty good.
Remember, in 2008 McCain beat Obama in Texas 55 to 43. That's a margin of 12 points. The only candidate here who's matching that at the moment is Perry, who has the advantage of being the current Governor of Texas and a native son.

If Obama does not gain Tx, it's actually a status quo.

24. People here think Romney is Obama's toughest challenge, but I disagree.
Romney doesn't do well in the South and with evangelicals.
