So, When You Go To Jail For Failing To Buy Corporate Health Insurance
Then at least you'd government provided health care in jail, free of charge.

Ahh, so that's where the Public Option is.

Now, I get it.

13. Well, ask Wesley Snipes what happens if you willfully refuse to pay taxes
In order to enforce this- there will have to be some examples made.

8. Nobody will go to jail.
However, if anyone here has ever had the IRS on their ass for non-payment, you might well WISH you were in jail.

Many will just pay the fine. And still do without health insurance.

11. Pay checks might be garnished, which is harsh, but I doubt anyone will go to jail for not buying
insurance, but I admit I could be wrong.

12. The old DU adage: if there is no link, it didn't happen. Link please.
I read this claim constantly made, but I never see a link to prove it. Since the jail time is so commonly cited there should be no problem in providing a link to prove it.

In real life there are many crimes which upon conviction can result in jail or prison time, but the reality is that many, even some serious crimes, only result in probation. There is no reason to believe that even if there potentially were jail time for not having health insurance that it would seldom, if ever be imposed but it does make great fodder for inflammatory threads about the bill.

This is an important point that should not be overlooked.

Surely the links proving same are readily available.

Where are they?

17. Again, prove the accusation that people will go to jail. Where's the link?
This is a smear job that is worthy of freepers because it is right down their alley.

For all of those who Rec this thread: PROVE IT! Show us all a link that indicates that people will be casually tossed in jail for not having health insurance.

29. Your post said "Heil Kooch"
Edited on Mon Dec-21-09 03:58 PM by Moochy
Who says "Heil"? Oh that's right Nazis. Your ham handed inference that people who feel that the current bill should be scrapped and agree with Kucinich are like Nazis. You used the cute DLC name for Kucinich, "Kooch" No surprise that you'd use a fascist tactic and invoke Godwin's Law (the first person to bring up a Nazi reference loses the argument.)

I was joking that your nazi cousin prompted you to do it, since clearly you are not a nazi, you just like to throw crude nazi references around carelessly.

Thickness of skull notwithstanding, was that so fucking hard to figure out from your original reply?

and PS, I doubt that anyone believes that there will be a debtor's prison for failing to pay healthcare premiums.

A broad brush smear against a group you disagree with, invoking the Nazis? Just so everyone is clear on what you are doing.

Edited on Mon Dec-21-09 08:36 AM by Jersey Devil
You're the one who will be in jail because no matter how much health care reform improves over the years beginning with this first huge step, you are in a prison of your own in which you are required to get up every day denouncing each passing improvement. And before the first final vote is even done you've reduced yourself to lies about what HCR means to the public. Pretty pathetic.
