CNN puts negative spin on improving poll numbers
From CNN/Opinion Research's latest poll, support for the Senate Health Care Bill went up from 36% to 42% and opposition went down from 61% to 56% and what did Gloria Borger get from the poll? That it's clear that the longer the bill "languishes out there," the less support there is. That's what they started with. Then they went on to show Obama's approval numbers-he's now up to 54% from 48%, while disapproval is down to 44% from 50%-all improvements from just over two WEEKS ago! And what does Borger get from THOSE numbers? That it's clear that "he's not in the stratosphere anymore." :eyes:

15. I still believe it's mostly infiltration.
I'm not going to call anyone out because that's against the rules.

We are infiltrated by people who want Obama and the Democrats to fail. It's bloody obvious.

43. Yep that was what my post was about yesterday
I posted something about Karl Rove. I didn't want to directly say it due to board rules but it was a shot across the bow to the infiltrators and disruptors that I know what they are doing. Half of the time, they don't even pretend not to echo GOP talking points.

14. The poll said 56% oppose the bill.
Edited on Mon Dec-21-09 02:03 PM by girl gone mad
How is that a positive?

What's more, so far this poll is an outlier in terms of showing any increase in support for the bill. The trend throughout December has been diminishing support in the poll of polls.

Here's the poll in case anyone wants to read it for themselves: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/12/21/cnn-poll-6-point-jump-in-support-for-health-care-bill/

More people still believe they will be worse off with this bill than better off.

23. Could it be the Media realize this is not a good bill? They may
be as dismayed as others with the Waffling Obama.

A panel of the Sunday Chris Matthews show--more serious journalists
were in agreement that Obama made a big mistake by turning the
bill over to the Senate to write and pass. Makes him appear
weak and "too cute by half".

their poll had Obama at a net gain of 12 points from their last poll. If she wanted to accurately reflect that, she would've said Obama's approval rose above 50% again-not that "he's no longer in the stratosphere."

34. I believe she said
that his approval rating was up from the last poll. Plus, the poll speaks for itself. Unless a person is blind (not being offensive here, just making a point), people can see that the approval ratings went up. That's what I got out of it. Regardless, you seem to have an obsession with poll numbers. His poll numbers will go up and down. They will next week, and the week after that and the week after that. That's how it works in politics.

36. Yeah...
she said something like, "Although his approval has gone up a few points, the country doesn't really feel he'll succeed with his agenda..." When his numbers dipped below 50%, they all made a HUGE deal about it. Now it's nothing to them that his numbers improved? I'm obsessed with people in the media being objective.

40. Well if it wasn't, it would be a1st.
Gloria Borger rarely can speak without echoing right wing talking points. She has poor analytical skills and always leans toward the right. So if she wasn't being biased it's a first for her. I've been watching her for years and she can't help herself.
