The Washingfton Concensus rears its head once again
We should remove all trade restrictions and open up the US economy. It will bring a great new prosperity as we are allowed to trade freely among nations with no artificial protections of domestic economies. We should allow outsourcing of American production and services, because that will create export markets for our products.

Nations should not be allowed to set their own trade policies, and they must not be allowed to pursue any laws or policies that would interfere with international trade and the global flow of capital.

We should remove regulations because market forces will guarantee competition and the best outcomes when allowed to operate in their own. We must remove restrictions on the activities of the financial sector, to allow them be operate competitively.

Public services should be privatized because corporations are always more efficient than government.

Healthcare should be left up to private insurance providers and market forces, because that will ensure competition that will deliver affordable health care.

Where have we heard that before? You'd think there might be some reevaluating of this neo-liberal, Chicago School of Economics ideology after all of its failures. Guess not.
