Senate Health Care Bill Clears Another Hurdle
by The Associated Press

December 22, 2009 Two down and one to go. The health care bill has passed another 60-vote test in the Senate.

Democrats remained united as they started voting at sunrise Tuesday, pushing toward their goal of passing President Obama's health care overhaul by Christmas.

With not a vote to spare, the Senate voted 60-39 to shut off debate on Majority Leader Harry Reid's version of the bill. An earlier vote to approve a 400-page package of changes that sealed Democratic support for the health care bill also passed 60-39, though only a simple majority was required. No Republicans voted in favor.

With partisan feelings running high, Reid appealed to senators to forgo personal attacks. Democrats must pass another 60-vote test Wednesday before they vote on final passage, expected to come on Christmas Eve.

1. It will pass....finally.
This is pins and needles time.

Hutchinson was just on begging for one democrat to vote no and to "slow down" the process. OMG it's taken 64 years since Truman tried.....please, how much slower could it go!

3. Seems the repugs have resigned that it will likely pass and are now attacking the process...
- "sleazy deals" - for political gain. Whatever.

5. She is runnig for gov in Texas and the insurance co, ALL of them, runs the repugs
...hell the largest three home insurance co was approved to raise rates as high as 15% for 2010 not including the 6% for 2009. Bushie and gov goodhair has all their insurace buddies on the state commission board. My brother is paying more for his homeowner premiums than he is in taxes this year, but we found a different company and saved $3200 on our insurance...the repugs has the false outrage down to a "T" I think they make them practice before they let them run for any office.

2. McConnell just hinted they may be going to relent.
On the Senate floor he said that he and his "good friend" Sen Reid may reach some agreement "soon". Both caucuses are meeting for lunch at 12:30. The Repukes want to go home. Could it all get done today?

4. They really have no choice.
Looks like this will happen. I hope this bill helps. The American people deserve something that will.
