Ergo.

"Great point of view," Steve Doocy declares, before directing the FauxNews freakshow audience to FireDogLake to sign her "Kill the Bill" petition.

And the viewers, not being total political freaks like us, are saying to themselves, "Who the hell is Jane Hamster"?

But since this will make her famous for 5 or 6 minutes and cause hundreds of silly arguments to erupt at DU, who am I to argue the importance (or irrelevance) of this monumental development?

Contrast how Obama smacks down O'Reilly bullshit while Hamsher and Doocy circle jerk through a three-minute spewfest...all directed at trying to torpedo this "Democratic-led" healthcare reform effort.

Jane goes on Fox to attack a bill that would provide health care to 30 million more Americans.

Big difference, my dear. Also, the interviews are much different.

When Jane was on it was a love fest. That was hardly the case with Obama's interview.

Edited on Tue Dec-22-09 05:26 PM by spiritual_gunfighter
If you watch her interview she is stating the problems she has with the bill because she wants the bill to be better Republicans want to kill the bill because they want no reform at all.

Lumping those two things together is either flat out ignorant or willfully dishonest.

And now on this very thread people are resorting to ridiculing her on her appearance and that she is "inarticulate".

It is fucking disgusting and for the first time since I have been coming around to DU, I am fucking ashamed to be a member.

The same thing has been going on with Gov. Dean.

Leave it to DU to throw progressives under the bus.

16. At first glance, I see this a bad, stupid, and so on. BUT then I get to thinking
if Jane Hamsher gets on FOX and manages to get wingers to start spouting "our" points of contention, then won't that sort of force their Congresscritters and Senators to start somehow addressing these concerns?

I mean really if she can get everyone riled up about the 8% cap, erroneously or not, it's possible that could get lowered to say 6%.

Just trying to find the silver lining, try not to flame to hard on me, k?

35. Colossal error in judgment on her part, IMHO.
If one makes the decision to appear, write on, be listened to on conservative media, the point is to get the Liberal/Progressive/Democratic message to the folks who typically consume that media. Using the appearance instead to help the right wing develop points of attack against Liberals/Progressive/Democrats is a horrific mistake. Again, just IMHO.

54. Your "facts" are your or someone else's opinions. As I have just stated in another post,
I personally know right-wingers who have become liberals because they gradually heard FACTS that were presented to them by liberals. They were not converted overnight in one swell foop, but over years they heard things that did not fit with the narrative they had been presented by the Limbaughs and Foxes of the world. Then, one day, they realized that they were being conned. Now they view the world differently--from a liberal perspective.

Your concept of quarantining ourselves from Fox News and other conservative news/propaganda outlets is simply small-minded and scary as hell. What you are saying is that no one can be educated about the flaws of the right-wing political philosphy. That is pure and simple bullshit. Every day, Americans are waking up to the insanity that is the mainstream propaganda on Fox. Jane Hamsher pointed out to the viewers that one of THEIR beloved right-wing Senators was now bashing Democrats for not doing what he had TWICE voted not to do. That is called exposing hypocrisy.

Those are facts.

Edited on Thu Dec-24-09 03:02 AM by stevenleser
Are you really suggesting that I said we should quarantine Fox? Wow, that is funny. First of all, that isnt what I said.

What I said was, have you seen the Republican Party change direction because of someone going on Fox. Which you won't.

I am actually a BIG proponent of Democrats/Liberals/Progressives going on conservative media to engage the audience and to try to change the views of those watching. But that is a long term process, if one thinks that this will be effective in getting the Republican party to change their stance on a bill in the short term? No way. Its not going to happen. The GOP doesnt listen to their base in any case. It (Democrats going on Fox) will only show effects at election time.

The only effect of what Hamsher did was to hurt Democrats.

Finally, you can see how big of a proponent I am of going on Fox and trying to help Democrats and the Democratic cause if you do a search on my name (Steve Leser) on Youtube. What you will not see from me is criticism of Democrats or anything a Democrat is trying to do when I go on. The hosts and regulars on Fox dont need any help criticizing Democrats.
