Sometimes we hear about how awesome a movie is, but then the movie turns out to be just OK. |
|
Because we were ready for an awesome movie, we perceive the movie as horrible. Upon a second viewing, the movie seems better, because our expectations were much lower.
This is how the HCR bill was/is for me. I was expecting something awesome, but then saw something which turned out to be just OK. The HCR bill looked horrible to me because of my expectations. After looking at the bill again, I realized the bill is not as bad as I had originally perceived.
Increasing the number of people who can get medicaid, forbidding maximum benefits, and increasing the percentage of money which must be spent on health care are really good, even though the mandates and abortion restrictions are really bad.
Even though the HCR bill has some major flaws, it does have some strong merits as well.

I'm just waiting for it to be reconciled with the House bill. I hope it will improve, some what.
