Why I, and many others, are so pissed
Before Obama I was pretty repulsed by politics. I followed it enough to know what was going on and who I would vote for, but I couldn't stand politicians. For the most part, I still feel that way.

It may sound corny, but Obama convinced me he would be above all that crap. It's been about a year now and let's just say I'm suffering from the Hope Hangover. I've crashed. Big time.

Obama is just another politician. I still plan to vote for him, but consider my enthusiasm for him in the toilet. He's just another politician who will bullshit you if needed. He's Bill Clinton, but just a little hipper.

And that's fine. Maybe my expectations were unreasonably high.

Consider them sufficiently lowered.

As the wise man once said...

2. I hear that. Sadly some people won't understand it or will think less of you for it, but I'm not
one of them.

3. knr. I don't think it's too much to ask that we have integrity in our candidates
and elected people. Obama isn't meeting that standard.

4. "Obama convinced me he would be above all that crap. "
"Obama is just another politician."

Yeah and all the people who supported those politicians who were not "above the crap" are outraged.

Oh brother.

Obama is above the crap, and that probably what is pissing so many people off.

focused on all the wrong cues, and continue to do so.

That kind of skill only comes with repeated practice.

5. He asked us to believe and that motivated us to put in our efforts time and money.
The downside of great sacrifice is greater disappointment.

7. Put your faith in ideas, not people. If an idea fails you, you can revise the idea.

15. Your expectations were unreasonably high.
.... the pie that he talked about was NOT "pie in the sky."

But dont feel bad, you're not alone ...... half of y'all (and by "y'all" I mean 'the upset folks') were expecting the impossible and the other half simply weren't paying attention. You set yourselves up for dissapointment.

Just out of curiosity, have you read "The Audacity of Hope"? ...... If you haven't, and if all Hope is not lost, that might be the square one you'd want to return to.

18. Life goes by a lot quicker than history
and our history, as it relates to progressive outcomes, isn't very pretty. Thirty years of pillage and plunder followed by comparatively brief (and violently despised) periods of enlightened legislation has been pretty much the pattern since Reconstruction. Obama is doing just about as well as he can do, by my understanding of reality. And we won't have the opportunity for much longer, be it until 2012 or 2016. So rather than fret about the margins, I'm supporting the core effort. And I haven't sprouted horns on my head yet or anything.
