Last time I saw Lanny Davis he was debating her and kept bringing up that photo every time she asked him what industry groups are currently paying him, and for what.

4. It seems to be a sucker-choice any way you slice it...
side with the anti-bill coalition and find yourself in bed with FNC and Jane Hamsher or side with the suckers who believe in this bill and find yourself in bed with a President who has shown himself to be a liar and a Congress full of quislings with no integrity.

I'm siding with me...I want this bill killed and Congress forced back into session and not allowed to recess until they can give us a bill that is worth supporting because this POS is not. Then I want it made clear that this President can count on not only a primary challenge but a primary loss unless he signs said bill and grows a backbone for all future partisan scuffles.

24. I'm sorry but I know that you're incorrect.
So you can't argue that point with me. He lied about refusing to sign a bill without a public option...that is unless he intends to veto this bill. It's too cut and dried to be debatable. He can't unsay it or say he only said it a little. He said it and thus it is a lie.

Perhaps he had his fingers crossed behind his back.

Covering All Americans and Providing Real Choices of Affordable Health Insurance Options.

Families and individuals should have the option of keeping the coverage they have or choosing from a wide array of health insurance plans, including many private health insurance options and a public plan. Coverage should be made affordable for all Americans with subsidies provided through tax credits and other means.

http://www.democrats.org/a/party/platform.html

In the 2008 Obama-Biden health care plan on the campaign’s website, candidate Obama promised that “any American will have the opportunity to enroll in new public plan.

http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/issues/HealthCareFullPlan.pdf

Every American has the right to affordable, comprehensive and portable health coverage. My plan will ensure that all Americans have health care coverage through their employers, private health plans, the federal government, or the states. My plan builds on and improves our current insurance system, which most Americans continue to rely upon, and creates a new public health plan for those currently without coverage. Under my plan, Americans will be able to choose to maintain their current coverage if they choose to. For those without health insurance I will establish a new public insurance program, and provide subsides to afford care for those who need them. My plan includes a mandate that all children have health care coverage and I will expand eligibility for the Medicaid and SCHIP programs to help ensure we cover all kids. My plan requires all employers to contribute towards health coverage for their employees or towards the cost of the public plan. Under my plan a typical family will save $2,500 each year. We will realize tremendous savings within the health care system from improving efficiency and quality and reducing wasted expenditures system-wide. Specifically, these savings will result from investments in health information technology, improvements in prevention and management of chronic conditions, increased insurance industry competition and reduced industry overhead, the provision of federal reinsurance for catastrophic coverage, and reduced spending on uncompensated care.

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/2008-presidential-candidates/issues/candidates/barack-obama/

NPR interview 2007-

Obama: Senator Clinton’s plan for healthcare, my plan, John Edward’s plan are all similar in the sense that we set up a government plan alongside the private plans that people have. And people can buy in. And we all subsidize participation in that plan.

Laura Knoy: So it’s not universal, single payer healthcare such as Dennis Kucinich<'s plan>?

Obama: Exactly. It’s not single payer, it’s a transitional system building on the existing systems that we have.

cont.-

Require all children to have health insurance, and employers to offer employee health benefits or contribute to the cost of the new public program. Expand Medicaid and SCHIP and create the National Health Insurance Exchange through which small businesses and individuals without access to other public programs or employer-based coverage could enroll in a new public plan, like Medicare, or in a range of approved private plans.

74. As you argue over what Obama said, Obama, et al are taking care of you and HCR...
I'm reading Sanders' press releases, got there from a DKos diary.

Diary:

45,000,000 get single-payer care =vs.= 3,000,000 P.O. tickets ??? -- Cummon folks.

THIS IS IMPORTANT.

Ted Kennedy's existing CHC program expands along lines developed by Bernie Sanders and Ben Cardin.

The single best thing to happen for America's working poor since food stamps:

-- 14,000 nationwide Community Health Clinics

-- Expand CHC capabilities to match VHA technology

-- 45,000,000 people served

-- $$$$$ to attract 20,000 primary care physicians, nurses, etc.

-- Drugs at VHA prices

-- Dental care

-- Patient billing scaled to income

-- No profit motive. 1/5th the cost of Emergency Room treatment.

Alan Frumin, the Senate Parliamentarian, showed last April that non-budgetary insurance sections would not qualify for reconciliation. Filibusters would doom any Senate P.O.

Care is separated completely from any billing.

Harry Reid concealed Sanders-Cardin till the last hour, then popped it into the Senate HCR Bill.

If he does nothing, it becomes law after 10 days of it being sent to the President. Obama can let it become law by default. In this way, the bill could become law while Obama sticks to his promise not to sign a bill without a public option.

you believe the tea baggers have some other real issues. Their signs show exactly what they are protesting. Now, I see she has a history of using 'black face' pictures for whatever reason, and you are evidently okay with that.

If she wants to disagree on 'policy' why the alliance with tea baggers? So yeah, I see her as a racist. My people don't take kindly to black face postings or tea baggers. You say I'm ignorant? I think you're rather arrogant. Don't tell me what to think about this lady. She can go screw herself.

44. Photo was posted during Lieberman/Lamont race, Jane backed Lamont
Lieberman made it well know he was trying to appeal to black voters. And given what we have sadly come to know about Joe Lieberman..well he's always full of s**t.

Do I think she Jane used extremely poor judgment to make a point? Yes. Did she apologize for it? Yes. Do I think she's a racist..No. Is Lieberman a phoney? Yes.

But we have all been duly punished when Lamont lost & Lieberman won.

50. Spoken like a true Lieberman backer
They, too, feigned outrage over this image in order to attack their political opponents. That's some wonderful company you're associating yourself with. :eyes:

75. You emphatically "embrace" the use of Blackface as a political advertising tool.

I'm not too worried about the opinion of someone who embraces such racist filth as that.

54. Yes and I also would have preferred Lamont to win over Lieberman
Do I think she used good judgment trying to show Lieberman was kissing up to black voters? No. Do I think she was overzealous about her candidate? Yes. Do I think she was thoughtless..Yes. Do I think she intended to offend black voters? No...because that certainly wouldn't have helped her candidate. Did she apologize? Yes. That's something I have never seen Andrew Sullivan do when quoting from the "The Bell Curve".

But if that isn't enough...her candidate Lamont lost. I can think of no greater punishment for her offense. We are now stuck with Joe Lieberman.

56. I doubt if it was Limbaugh or Hannity who posted that you'd call it "poor judgment." Am I wrong?

I'll bet you'd call it what was & is: rank racism. For the record, so would I. But, then, I'm consistent in such matters - across the board.

66. Yes, you're wrong
Hannity & Limbaugh have shown on many occassion that are racist...hell Rush went on a tirade about Donovan McNabe being "allowed" to be a quarterback, because he was black and not talented. Which was not only racist but a load of shit. Donovan Mc Nabe is a damn good player.

I think what people are missing here is "intent". She was thoughtless, no question...and probably not being black, didnt realize she would offend...just wanted to show Lieberman would kiss up to blacks for votes.

She did apologize, something I have never seen Andrew Sullivan do, when using quotes from "The Bell Curve" and posters on this board use Sullivan as their source, and I have never heard of anyone here complaining he is offensive or a racist. So perhaps you should go ask them, if they think he's a racist.

Lamont Lost...Lieberman Won...no greater punishment could be given.

48. I come to DU to be informed and enlightened...
And today I have been with regard to Missy Jane's peculiar fascination with, um, shall we say ethnic art. Informative and enlightening, not only to this johnny-come-lately (I absolutely had no idea she was into ethnic art, either collecting or creating), but also to many black 'progressive' bloggers who, according to a poster on the Daily Kos, are politely (and maybe not so politely) saying "thanks but no thanks" to Missy Jane's 'progressive' style of leadership and her calls for melding minds with tea baggers.

I wonder if she'll be making any more films soon? Never to late for a sequel to Birth of a Nation. B-)

Aren't there enough Obama threads on DU that you have to mention him in this one about Missy Jane and her fascination with ethnic art? Come on, I know you can be more creative than that. I have faith in you. B-)

72. Ha!
Never to late for a sequel to Birth of a Nation.

And as is ALWAYS the damn case, we have people who instead of calling out Jane Hamsher for using this offensive, idiotic photograph are instead calling JENMITO the "race baiter" for calling attention to Hamsher's use of the photo!!!! Oh my God!! The madness! The ridiculousness of this is just too much to take.

83. First time I've seen it. Hate it. Still upset about Obama's lie today.
Hamsher deserves whatever she gets for posting this.

But Obama is still the president and needs to held accountable as well.

Two wrongs do not make a right.
