Ready for the campaign against Bernie Sanders

I don't know Jane...but I know Bernie and I don't think she should be calling him out

by EdgedInBlue

After reading one of the wrecked list diaries about Jane Hamsher of Firedoglake.com joining forces with Grover Norquist to call for the resignation of Rahm Emmanuel, a poster pointed me to a twitter by Ms. Hampher calling for Bernie Sanders to kill the bill or lose his seat.

I've got to tell you. Until this week, I didn't know much about Ms. Hamsher. I knew that a diarist blogged here and got donations through FDL. I signed up several months ago on FDL because of that diarist's involvement in health care reform.

<...>

But it wasn't until a poster noted that Ms. Hamsher had tweeted about Senator Bernie Sanders losing his seat unless he killed the bill. Losing his seat. The only self-professed socialist in the political spectrum. Losing his seat because he wasn't progressive enough? Bernie Sanders, promoter of single-payer health care? That guy who passionately argued for, and offered an amendment that would provide health care and dental coverage for every American? I almost couldn't believe it. But I clicked the linky, and sure enough...there it was, in all its glory.

Lunatics.

5. Recommended. Sanders is extraordinarily popular in Vermont and
properly so.

He's a gemstone.

There's no chance he can be defeated if he seeks re-election, IMO.

Hamsher is out in the junkyard banging at things and teasing the feral dogs. Perhaps Freud was right after all.

There has been tremulous whispers that Hamsher is among the DU registration. Well THIS observer has no evidence of this claim, yet the whispers persist.

Your closing noun works for me big time.

17. Hey there, Cha.
Happy everything, depending on the full range of holidays etc. to you and yours.

I love talented people, and Hamsher is a damned talented director. She could certainly reach a far wider audience on a screen that shows her gifted work than on that incendiary blog over there at IceMongrelPuddle.

Most historians are yet to weigh in on even a preliminary impression on this President. When we begin to hear from them, I think History will be talking clear, and plain, and true.

And it's gonna piss off Jane Hamsher somethin' fierce. Her anger is festering and has burst onto the public forum, and film is her domain, not politics, and it definitely shows.

22. You and I will agree on this.
Sanders is the best thing we have going right now. It is wonderful that he caucuses with us.

I wish we could get people in our party to be far more like him.

I'm not sure Bernie would go for it.

But the idea has strong appeal.

7. Well, that explains it.
When you're to the left of Bernie Sanders, you must run smack into the far right Grover Norquist. It closes the circle.

18. I'll second Cha's post.
How does anyone -- an adult, i mean -- get to the left of Sanders, who is arguably the most progressive soul to ever serve in the Upper Chamber?

That crafty Jane Hamsher must know a secret passageway!

25. That is bullshit.
This isn't a circle. Going to the left, being populist and/or progressive you are never going to end up meeting the ideas and tactics of the far right.

That smacks of very lazy thinking. "Everyone who is different from me must somehow all be the same because I can't be bothered to learn their differences." :eyes:

9. Yup, teh stoopid is out in full force
People who don't even know what they are talking about are frenetically shouting slogans: corporate whores! kick out Bernie Sanders! Hang Rahm Emmanuel! And don't force me to get health insurance! The tea baggers aren't so bad! Impeach Obama!

I'm, quite frankly, getting a bit scared. It was in similar economically uncertain times that all sorts of forces started acting in extremis--anarchists bombing, Facists goosestepping--that led to the entire breakdown of civilized society as we know it.

The Jane Hamshers of the world are dangerous in their hysterical fraudulence.

I certainly don't. It seems like a waste of time to worry about a minor blogger and her followers.

21. Well, a minor blogger who ...
is getting a lot of TV face time, who is making bucketloads of dough from advertisers, who has been accused of blackmailing interest groups in return for "support," and who seems to have a lot of influence here.

What people need to understand about some of these bloggers is that they are, first of all, not progressives: Hamsher, Greenwald, and a few others I won't mention, are libertarians. (Greenwald, in particular, ran a libertarian-oriented blog before his screaming about Bush got him noticed by the left; it's all the same to him). With libertarians, left and right are often immaterial. It's all about their "individual" rights. We progressives are more interested in our communal obligations, the common good, and civil rights.

Secondly, there's a great deal of scam going on: Jane Hamsher, like Ann Coulter, gets more attention and more money the louder they yell.

Is she the only true so-called "progressive" who is so true that she will lay down with vermin and "March With Teabaggers" to solidify how pure she is?

Yay for pols like Bernie Sanders who actually make it happen.

15. Yep, that's Insane Jane.
I believe she's insane for two reasons:

#1 She wants to remove the most progressive (and ONLY socialist!) member of the Senate based on one single issue, and it's not even the issue that she disagrees with

#2 She thinks she has enough influence to do that

She's certifiable. And she's all yours lefty wingnuts.

At the end of the day, they don't even know what the fuck they want. As long as all the Dems (and the 1 socialist in the Senate) are destroyed because they didn't get their pony.

31. Jane represents the inevitable logic of the "kill bill" position.
I applaud her conviction in following her beliefs to their insanely irrational conclusion. The sheer stupidity of her position will walk back many a manic-progressive from the precipice of despair and disappointment that they are ready to jump into.

Senate is an Independent.

Bernie Sanders is an honorable man with solid support both inside and outside of Vermont. I live in Alaska, and I'd donate instantly if Sanders needed financial support.
