1 trillion dollars every 5 years - if they pass the mandate, it will give big insurance enough cash |
|
to crush future reform efforts as well as what little is in the bill.
45,000,000 customers
x $375/month
= 16.875 billion per month
= 202 billion/year
= 1.01 Trillion Dollars every 5 years
Think of the Senators they can buy with that!

1. The devil is in the details...with mandates, you will pay as much as |
|
$2000 penalty EVERY YEAR for not buying private health insurance policy, on a very middle class family income of $80,000 AGI in the house bill and $1600 penalty every year in the senate bill.
It is 2.5% of AGI in the house bill and 2.0% of taxable income in senate bill.

and their overhead and the 80%-85% MLR cap.
So they probably only get $200 billion (20%) every 5 years. Still could buy a lot of politicians though.

6. Wait, did you just say people should be forced to buy insurance?? |
|
From some big company?
Hell, I am going out to start a health care company tomorrow. I will jack up rates, give you a huge co-pay, and invest the rest in big banks that cannot fail because we were forced to give them loans when they would not do the same for us.
Oh, and you are also forced to buy a home/apartment - from me. And car insurance, even if you own no car. Others do.
Insurance is gambling, plain and simple. And if you want to force other people to gamble...well, I hope I am the casino.
