Cuba among Top Ten Tourist Destinations Worldwide
Keep in mind that Americans are travel banned by their own government from seeing the evil island for themselves (actually, American born Americans are travel banned 2nd class citizens because Cuban-Americans are allowed to go to Cuba as often as they please).

Cuba is among the top ten most attractive tourist destinations worldwide for the end of this year and the coming 2010.

In a specialized survey, the travel guide company Lonely Planet, which is the largest travel guide book publisher in the world, ranked Cuba the sixth in a list of the top ten most attractive tourist destinations.

According to AP new agency, the first was the United States, followed by Canada, South Africa, Mexico and Thailand.

Meanwhile, the premier source of independent travel information online, Concierge.com, ranked Cuba seventh in their list of the world’s best tourist destinations for 2010.

Over the past years, Cuba has been growing stronger in the field of tourism by greatly improving its infrastructure and the quality of the services. In addition, it is renowned for being a safe destination for foreign visitors.

1. The title is misleading, what is a 'top tourist destination?'
Who knows how Lonely Planet decides to distribute annual rankings (such things often involve money in the real world), 'attractive' can mean whatever they want it to mean.

2. yeah i thought this had to do with airport/customs data or something
i was wondering why cuba was ahead of a country like the bahamas, but it's one of these subjective lists.

3. These headline lists are usually open to negotiation for some slots I suspect.
There is no way cuba total tourism is competitive with the the US canada western europe china japan and for that matter other latin american destinations.
