:yourock:

Someday we will look back at this, and see how it was finessed, by the President and Pelosi and Reid..

Unbelievable good work

Even Harwood, had to admit this morning.. they (the media) got it wrong.

What some wanted to perceive as either weakness or non involvement.. was actually a well oiled machine at work.

HCR would never have gotten this far without it.

Now is the time to retool the bill in conference.

We will not get 100% of all we want at first swipe.. but I will take 80% any day of the week over a big fat ZERO

2. Obama will be heavily involved in conference and merging the bills.
Up until now, Obama really hasn't been involved in the process. I'm excited to see what comes from it!

:hi:

9. Orrin Hatch accused the President of shutting the GOP out of the process...
.... "The Reid bill was written by him and the WH." I think the President was more involved than we'll know for quite some time. ;)

14. The Baucus bill was a bitter pill that we swallowed
'because it could be fixed in the Senate.'

It is now, by far, the more progressive of the two bills. At every step it went further and further and further to the right, yet not a single republican voted for it.

The privatization of national health care and the institutionalization of private insurance all in one shot. Sounds like a Bush era wet dream.

8. Exactly.
If it took watering down the bill this much to get it passed, where's the indication that they'll be able to "fix" it in reconciliation?

7. If Obama signs a bill with mandates but no public option of any kind, his presidency ends
Edited on Thu Dec-24-09 10:04 AM by rocktivity
because to stop him and the Dems on everything else, all LIEberman, the Repubs and conservaDems have to do is rinse and repeat.

But Obama is clearly intelligent enough to understand that--I think he was right to lay back and let Congress do what they're supposed to. He knew that the media would have crucified him as a power-mad obstructionist partisan despot if he hadn't (though when Bush did it, they called it moral courage).

The fat lady hasn't come onstage yet. He can still save the day.

10. You got that right.
Turning this country around is like turning around a supertanker.

But we have reversed the republican race to the bottom and are moving in the right direction.

Now on to Conference!

They don't get this far with flying by the seat of their pants.

It will be interesting to find out the intricacies of this down the road.

Who is "Harwood" and how did the media get it wrong? I can imagine but could you give any details? Thanks Peacetrain:)

19. I'd like to see Pelosi & House Dems insist on public option in the final bill.
Not coddle weak-kneed senators moaning that they can't 60 votes with a public option. They don't need 60 votes; they choose to require 60. They need to toughen up and pass a bill with public option, using the nuclear option.
