Well it sucks unless a despicable corrupt asshole like Grover Norquist is available for a joint attempt to disrupt the Obama administration.

1. True, what is this but bipartisanship?

Yet if centrists makes common cause for reasonable things, that's a crime!

3. Don't you know? Didn't get the memo?
President Obama is going to kick Rahm to the curb, and replace him with Grover.

Obama is going to shift his policies, and take counsel from that famous Leftist Philosopher, Norquist.

4. And, the devil's advocate might state it this way:
"Bipartisanship is a good thing and is to be earnestly sought in all political endeavors---except when it disagrees with this president."

Both sides of this dispute WITHIN our party have ample reason to tee off on the other if they choose to do so. Even those with something relevant and true to say should sometimes remain silent. The healthcare issue is of such monumental importance to so many Americans that unusually strong passions have been aroused. A little time to heal, to think, to consider and reconsider, would serve all of us well.

There is much left to do.

Again, Merry Christmas.

5. "Both sides of this dispute WITHIN our party have ample reason to tee off on the other" Wrong
The very people joining forces with the RW are the ones who criticized the administration for bipartisanship, which to date hasn't included the likes of Grover Norquist.

7. "Joining forces with the RW" Really? As in "gone over to the Dark Side" or just allied with a
wingnut on one issue?

I know, I know---you don't answer any questions.

Anyway, accept my sincere wishes for a Happy New Year. WE are going to have to get OUR act together if we're going to hold on to Congress and restore our democracy and our Constitution. It will take ALL of us. Hope it's not too late.

9. Sadly, nobody seems to understand WHY Obama pushed bipartisanship
He knew the Dem Caucus in the Senate was shaky at best.

Would you want to rely on Joe Lieberman to get your most important domestic agenda item passed? I know I wouldn't. How about Ben Nelson?

By reaching out to some Republicans, Obama threatened to make Lieberman completely irrelevent. Instead, Lieberman had to come around. Same goes with Nelson.

10. Argument goes both ways, as you know, your smilie notwithstanding.
Some of us are consistent. I don't see evidence that you're one of them. I hate the idea of bipartisanship whether it's Hamsher or Obama. I love Kennedy but harped on him for teaming up with Bush for NCLB. I think Hamsher is being a fool. I think Obama trying to reach out to Repubs for health care was equally as foolish (and equally as big a waste of time).

For all your talk of hypocrisy on the progressives part you're no different. Bipartisanship seems to be ok with you when it's for something you approve of. And isn't that exactly what the people you're talking about are doing? It sure is. Only difference? You don't agree with them.
