DNC Slams McConnell's Remarks On 'This Week'

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell criticized the Democratic health care bill this morning on ABC's "This Week," and the Democratic National Committee went after him with a comparison to Richard Nixon.

"This morning Mitch McConnell told more lies per second than anyone who has ever appeared in the long, storied history of Sunday shows. From the opening sequence to the final credits, it was a breathtaking display of lying that would have made Richard Nixon blush," said DNC spokesman Hari Sevugan.

"Now that the momentum is behind finally delivering on the promise of reform, Republicans are growing more desperate by the hour and - as we saw today - have adopted a say and do anything strategy to kill reform and save themselves," Sevugan added.

During his interview McConnell (R-KY) said the bill raises taxes and increases premiums, and said Americans are "overwhelmingly opposed to the bill."

McConnell also said the Obama administration "has run up more debt in the first year than the previous one in four years."

The DNC said Obama inherited the deficit.

12. well, any time you question a Republican
it's a sure sign of liberal media bias... nothing they say can be challenged in fear of being called liberal.

6. At this point there's not a lot of difference between McConnell and many "progressives"
They're all lying in the name of Obama-Hate.

9. The first year of any administration belongs to the previous administration.
Bush's first year had few problems thanks to president Clinton. If you take away all of the Bush expenses you would have an average deficit for 2009.

10. The thing about the republicans
IS no matter how common, how asinine, how wrong, how greedy, how corrupt their opinions and their obstructions to the democrats bills, THEY STICK TOGETHER. the do not in fight and pan each other. If the democrats had half the organization of the republicans they would be rolling over them now and getting every single damn bill they want passed into law. the reason Obama's administration is not working is because of lack of cooperation and each and every democrat wanting to be 'THE ONE'..

11. When will the DNC adopt the repug strategy of shooting the messenger?
Why are the Sunday talk shows always filled with wingnuts? When will be learn to attack the messenger when we do not like what we hear?
It makes no sense to get into an argument with the likes of McConnell. It is far more effective to attack the means his ilk spread their venom.
Whenever a progressive makes a point the MSM is attacked as the liberal purveyors of whatever. The message is lost in the stir up.
When are we going to realize this works?

14. This bill is a wonderful Christmas gift to Republicans
they get something they can live with AND they still get to campaign against the Democrats who passed it.

15. That's good to hear. I've been wondering where the DNC has been throughout this whole Healthcare
debate . . . I mean other than calling to ask for money.

sounded out of place here.
