Three days ago, while stressing over and over that I'm solidly on the side of the Democratic Party, http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9292106">I presented a carefully reasoned argument for a view of mine which, as it turns out, was essentially echoed today on http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/10/13/910066/-FL-Sen:-What-would-two-way-races-look-like">Daily KOS by "kos" himself. Yet my thread was closed 26 minutes after I started it. Why?

1. Because this is one of those gray areas for which the moderators do not have clear rules. |

We have a "don't support third-party candidates" rule. But we also allow exceptions for certain circumstances (like Bernie Sanders) and we've been letting members support Crist. The mods were getting alerts, and they didn't know if it was within bounds to call for Meek to resign. They were in a situation where they had to use their judgment, and the consensus was to not permit it. I can understand the choice they made.
I guess we need to have an official position on calling for Meek (or Crist) to resign. I lean toward letting people do it. I don't like splitting the left, because it helps Republicans. (Which is why we don't typically permit third-party advocacy here.)
