Can I get a clarification of the DU policy regarding suicide. Regarding the kid at Rutgers who killed himself... My position was/is that in the end suicide is the decision of the person doing it regardless of any external factors.
I know it "icks" people out to talk poorly of the dead but I am asking for a clear ruling on this. It's come up twice for me on separate issues.

1. There is no official position. |

But based on what you are telling me here, I think your point of view is extremely insensitive. At the very least, it could be inferred that you are excusing the actions of bullies. It also suggests a disturbing lack of sensitivity on the question of why people feel compelled to take their own lives.
But I guess, in a very narrow sense: Yes, if someone takes their own life, they are the person who makes the ultimate decision.
But I'm not going to sit here and provide cover for you to post highly insensitive and highly inflammatory things on this website. If you really want to "go there" you need to be extremely careful how you do it.
