I would venture to guess that Governor "missing in action"
Christie flew to Disneyworld on the taxpayers dime, too.

1. Well, if it is any consolation
until about a day ago, the weather down here has been supremely crappy for the last month. So, other than visiting The Rat, he didn't get what NJers paid for anyway.

2. Even if he paid for his own trip, the taxpayers of NJ picked up the tab for his
NJ State Trooper protection that comes with the office of Governor, and they do travel with him and have rooms on either side of the Governor's room when staying at hotels.

3. Why do Governors need State Trooper protection??
When was the last time a Governor got assassinated? The only one I can think of that got shot at was Wallace 40+ years ago.

4. Interesting question - perhaps it's the state trooper's presence that helps that.
Of course, there's no way ever to know that, unfortunately, but a bit of prevention often does a lot.

I'm reminded of the youth camps I've done as a counselor, in which we were told (as adults) to make sure to have one adult at every table during meals. Not to be there in case something happens, but because our very presence pretty kept anything FROM happening in the first place.
