WASHINGTON -- Using graphic imagery and his strongest language to date, the new Marine Corps commandant spoke out again Tuesday against a repeal of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy, this time suggesting that a change in the law would risk maiming Marines because of the "distraction."

In a background briefing with a handful of Pentagon reporters, Gen. James Amos said a repeal of the law that bans gays from openly serving could prove to be a life-threatening distraction for combat Marines. Fox News was not invited to the briefing, but the military newspaper "Stars and Stripes" provided an audio recording.

"I don't want to lose any Marines to the distraction," Amos said. "I don't want to have any Marines that I'm visiting at Bethesda with no legs be the result of any type of distraction."

Amos, it should be noted, is scheduled to visit wounded Marines at the Bethesda Medical Center on Wednesday.

2. What an ass.
As if there are no distractions when the shit is hitting the fan.

It is not like they are going to be wearing brightly-colored feather boas or some such.

Jeez...

3. Why does this man still have his job?
Is there no price to be paid for insubordination in this administration?

5. He's been at it for quite a while, too. This is not an isolated happening.
Why is one of the president's subordinates running around the country loudly campaigning against one of the president's top policy priorities?

There's something wrong with this picture.

10. The only gay Marine I knew...
for sure... was our company clerk. When he got a BCD we were devastated. He could forge any officer's signature around, he could scrounge gear and weapons, he could do anything and everybody admired and looked up to him.

We learned that they found a diary during one of the usual shakedowns and he had recorded one homosexual encounter off-base.

Good Marine, good guy, gone for nothing.

General Amos... the CMC during the first part of my time in is my hero, not some anti-gay fucking crusader like you.

`I believe that if we had and would keep our dirty, bloody, dollar soaked fingers out of the business of these (Third World) nations so full of depressed, exploited people, they will arrive at a solution of their own. And if unfortunately their revolution must be of the violent type because the `haves' refuse to share with the `have-nots' by any peaceful method, at least what they get will be their own, and not the American style, which they don’t want and above all don’t want crammed down their throats by Americans.' –
Gen. David Shoup, United States Marine Commandant Medal of Honor recipient. 2 Purple Hearts

Not to mention the greatest Marine of all....

“War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious.
“I spent 33 years in the Marines. Most of my time being a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer for capitalism.”
Gen. Smedley Butler, USMC two time Medal of Honor recipient. 8 Purple Hearts

11. Hey, General, want to care for your Marines?
How about caring for the ones who are living their lives in shame because of this policy?

Which is why I'm glad my Chief of Staff was at least OPEN to repeal, and the CMSAF has said he supports it.
