Who here thinks we need to start an unemployed party and get unemployed and underemployed people around the country to run for office, both local and national?
The ones who win will start getting a pretty good salary. Maybe we need people who run for office because they need a job, rather than running for office so they can make more money at the jobs they already have.

Almost 10% unemployment among college graduates (which doesn't include me, I'm too poor for college)

4. well, if I knew how to organize an idea, I would've done it |
|
my best guess would be find someone that actually has a voice that people listen to and sell them on the idea
or call for tax cuts for the rich and get corporate funding, seemed to work for the tea party

5. so say we all, & that's the real problem. |
|
someone with a voice = someone with their own interests to protect.
your thinking points out the problem: politics run & funded by the "big men"

7. well, the corporate funding part was sarcastic |
|
but someone with a voice could be as simple as someone with a higher-than-average number of subscribers on Daily Kos or Huffington Post or YouTube or DU. Or a coalition of such people. Or some popular progressive figure like Michael Moore, etc.
Or I could post it on DU, and then if you like the idea, you could tell other people about it, and we see where we go from there...

are saying,an unemployment party:D No one would want a Party they thought wasn't working!!!!But I will say at least you are doing better than some of the other ridiculous things I have heard. You are trying to come up with a solution. And knowing there is a problem is half the solution. Keep going you will find your own form of protest!!!!Like your Spirit:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

10. if I could afford to take time off of work to run... |
|
.... then maybe I could see your point.
I am not saying it won't work, only that it would have some unique hurdles built in.
As long as you add in some pledges to not ever become a lobbyist or to take certain types of donations it might catch on.

15. Thom Hartmann today was beginning a conversation of UNIONIZING the unemployed... |
|
but I had to tune out at that point -- anyone hear the show?
But think an UNEMPLOYED PARTY is a great idea -- and there are people trying to
unionize the unemployed -- !!
