King Bloomberg's Daughter on the Board of Another Phony National "Grassroots" Ed Deform Front Org

That would be "Stand for Children" -- one of the parties that brought you "Waiting for Superman".

Stand for Children is based out of Portland Ore & has affiliates in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Tennessee, and Washington.

One of their things is to pack state & local governments with pro-deform people -- just like the radical Christian right, aka fascists did in their "long march on the institutions":

It’s not every day that a group almost nobody has ever heard of gives $175,000 to a single state legislative candidate. But that’s just what happened on Oct. 7 when Stand for Children Illinois PAC handed over that gigantic check to Republican Ryan Higgins, who is vying to replace retiring state Rep. Paul Froehlich (D-Schaumburg).

http://www.illinoistimes.com/Springfield/article-7903-whorss-behind-stand-for-children.html.

Since 1999, Stand members in Oregon have won 75 state and local victories that accomplished key education reforms...

http://www.stand.org/Page.aspx?pid=1477

Another of their activities is training the local shills they find in how to more effectively shill to privatize education -- in their own special Leadership Academy:

http://www.standleadershipcenter.org/Page.aspx?pid=1582

Heiress Emma recently married a hedge fund analyst (don't all the daughters of rich politicos?).

Here's the lovely couple dressed as vampires (how appropriate) on Panache Privée, "the world's leading interactive network of affluent and influential people" -- because Facebook is sooooo declasse:

Emma (whose first job was in her father's office, daddy got the rules on nepotism relaxed since of course she didn't need the salary) is on the Board of "SFC" representing the "Robin Hood Foundation," another phony hedge funders' social-political manipulation group disguised as a charity.

http://www.robinhood.org/leaders-and-staff/board.aspx

(Golly these rich people spend a lot of money "fighting poverty". You'd think 150 years after the first (Peabody) "foundation" was established they'd have it whipped. Takes a long time to wipe out poverty I guess.)

More of Emma's board:

http://www.stand.org/Page.aspx?pid=1339

And if you check out the state people, you will learn much you didn't know about the covert war on ed via institution packing, more networks of phony or co-opted grassroots orgs, & legislation in your state.

In Washington, for example, the Board of SFC is dominated by Bill Gates employees & their spouses: Steve Ballmer's wife heads its board:

http://www.stand.org/Page.aspx?pid=1509

Wissner-Slivak is a former MS employee "who left to spend more time with her family," Vranek is an "education consultant" who worked with Gates, Kurtz is another.

Laura Kohn is a former Gates "advisor" who heads up this Seattle astroturf org:

http://newschoolfoundation.org/about-inspireed/staff-and-board-of-directors/

Two lawyers & two "community volunteers" (actually Bushnell is an 18-year Seattle School Board member, highly connected, & Dressel is "Group Manager, Venture Capital at Microsoft Corporation"

http://www.spoke.com/info/pTKSl6/TonyaDressel

You may as well call it "Microsoft Employees for Education Deform, paid for by Bill Gates"

http://bluemassgroup.com/diary/19352/stand-for-childrens-stands

"The Stand for Children 2008 annual report lists the major donors to the charitable arm (p.10).The list of donors of a quarter of a million dollars or above reads as follows:

Joshua and Anita Bekenstein

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

New Profit, Inc...."

"New Profit" -- how telling!

"We are a national venture philanthropy fund that seeks to harness America's spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship to help solve our country's biggest social problems."

And if you look into them, you will find the afore-mentioned Josh Bekenstein is also "New Profit," as "Bain Capital," which is Mitt Romney's private equity firm.

http://www.newprofit.com/cgi-bin/iowa/about/10.html

They just bought "Gymboree".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bain_Capital

Dig into this crap & you'll find rich people redividing the world.

Fuck them all.

2. Here's why there is no "competition"
Edited on Tue Jan-04-11 04:56 AM by Hannah Bell
Bain Capital announces a deal to acquire a 16% stake in Chinese electronics manufacturer GOME Electrical Appliances for $300 million.

Acquires Bavaria Yachtbau for a price rumored to be about €1.3B Euros

Acquires Edgars Department Stores (Edcon Limited) of Zimbabwe and South Africa

Joins the enlarged private equity consortium headed by KKR that agreed to acquire an 80.1% stake in the Semiconductor Division of Royal Philips Electronics. The new company is called NXP Semiconductors.

Purchases the Dollarama chain of dollar stores, based in Montreal, Canada

Purchases Bombardier Inc.'s recreational products division , along with the Bombardier family and the Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Québec, and created Bombardier Recreational Products or BRP. Bain Capital took a 50% interest in the new company.

The same small class owns everything, all over the world.

The only "competion" is between rival gangs of capitalists.

3. They used the 'race to the top' concept also.
So they wont be a problem, just a matter of timing.

So there is linkage to posting here and the news articles around those topics, and possibly those actual programs if the news is correct on its reporting. heh.

 I remember when he went with Turner of CNN to meet a group of people in DC. And the scuttlebut around MS was that the whole breaking up of MS was becuase MS wasn't paying enough to lobbyist. In a proper system, regardless of what they paid, they should have been broken up, but then again, many corporations are to big. I think MS went with the news route since Turner was CNN, and MSNBC popped up sometime around then.

So MS has a reason not to like government, but if that is really the case, they have the money to tell people that. My guess is they sided with that system.

So who knows?

Although they didn't correct beer and travel money issue either, so either the people telling them about posts, and distorting them are at fault, or they are. Could be an intermediate layer that is the issue.

Plus they have some black rooms also, and not sure if the rank and file have the same views as the management.

Not sure on Bill, I would guess he got caught up in things, and did what he knows, with better intents. I would even guess he believes his school reforms are for the best, and how would I know from news. However I do know he pimps the program on his news, and that makes it not news, and that is a problem.

Although he also allowed news casters to express opinions on his msnbc station to talk about what they want, and not just take the two position theater stuff. So way to many things to just make a snap thought about. Then again, how would a person know anyways.

Although by not reporting some stuff they must still have some constraints, but could be ideological.

5. Shrug, possibly.
Everyone has some good and bad. So from that, might as well try and be nice.

I do agree there are indicators of issues.

I try to separate people and ideals, and figure things will work out. But I also know that if someone is under pressure you can't always blame them, so it could be something behind him also.

I do disagree with monopoly, and that is much of how he establish MS. Although it was discussed so it was open, but monopolies strip away any possible better effects from capitalism.

that nice bill gates, who does drug testing on third-world children

i'm so sick of people who think the ruling class that regularly sends people off to die so they can grab more of the globe, are just a collection of well-meaning schmucks who somehow got in with the wrong crowd.

you don't get to be the richest person in the world being "nice"

why don't you do your zen musing on a religious thread.

7. I did not say he was nice, but he might be
Edited on Tue Jan-04-11 05:54 AM by RandomThoughts
And he may not be nice. If he has issues, I would guess it would be over his head issues or empathy circle issues. But from the lectures I saw of him, I think his problem is thinking that 'systems' like the ones he supports and uses, are correct. So it would be an education problem with him, or an empathy circle issue.

Everything is a spiritual thread, if you believe people are spiritual beings.

I also said it is tough to not be suspicious of the actions of every billionaire, but that is more the reason to maintain focus and not get side tracked with comments that would just draw you away from other better thoughts.

8. I think Bill Gates is killing people, putting them out of work, lowering their wages,
in order to aggregate more wealth and power to himself and his friends. He's doing it covertly, non-democratically, through the power of money; corrupting people & institutions through the power of his money.

I'm not the least bit interested in musings about his spirituality. They're irrelevant & ridiculous.

Bill Gates doesn't regard people outside his class as fully human.

12. That is possible.
Some people think that way. Really simple thought to break though.
