Have the goal posts on Libya shifted once again? |
|
When we went in to Libya the president's strongest supporters claimed the mission was legal because the war powers act gives the president 60 days to get congressional approval. Today has been 60 days, and the president has made absolutely no effort to get congress to approve this mission and it is unlikely he will be able to do so today.
So have the goal posts shifted once again? Does the legality of our action in Libya suddenly have nothing to do with the war powers act? What's the new justification for the day? That this is a NATO mission so the war powers act doesn't apply? Or is it that the war powers act is unconstitutional so the president should simply ignore it?
I remember the day we used to all agree that going in to war then shifting the justifications for that war's legality was something to be frowned upon.

1. Don't You Know That If Our Own Does It - Then It Is Ok? |

We all in DU condemned the Bush war but we somehow find it acceptable to condone the Obama's war. Yes we keep silent over the Saudi, Yemeni and Baharianian suppression of their opposition but are quick to go to war over Libyan and Syrian actions towards their peoples.
