There has GOT to be a way to start making some money on these people.

The best one I heard was to issue an insurance policy of, let's say, $50 a month to promise that you would take care of their pets after they are gone.. They can decide to have them put down (and I will take care of that terrible deed) so they won't suffer through the tribulation or I will simply take them on as my pets.

Other methods I have tried have never succeeded: When you ask a person who believes in the rapture if they'll bet money this obviously doesn't help any since, if it never happens (which of course it won't) we will never get anything out of it.

We've got to find a way to get money from the people month by month based on something they might actually be concerned about after they are gone. Like I said, the "pet" idea sounds like the best. I doubt if they would pay insurance to make sure their plants get watered.

Ideas? I think DU could actually be a hotbed of entrepreneurialism on this one.

1. You don't have to get there money.

If you feel they are wrong, help them in the areas you think you can help them in.

Then from that not only what money they might give you would help, but there time and efforts every minute.

And really aren't you leaving them behind, just like they think, if you take there money and don't help them.

You are no better then them. And no worse either of coarse.

2. don't have to, but would rather.
Only they can help themselves--I have no way to convince them to change their magical thinking

3. Maybe you can help them refine there magical thinking with your reasoning.
And maybe they can help you add to your logical reasoning by seeing some of the magic.

And then both of you can go up together.

5. I bet God simply forgot….

Just like God always seems to forget all of the starving children in the world, the women being raped, the wars being fought, the people being killed.

But he always seems to remember to help someone score a Touchdown, hit a home run or score a game winning basket.

Wasn't there an NBA game on tonight?

God was busy helping one team beat another, and therefore didn't have time to end the world.

6. Exactly.
Every crazy believer needs to explain why football is more important to their god than starving children. As a matter of fact, the next time anyone tries to preach at me I will insist they answer that question. That will shut them up real fast.

8. Why would you think it more important?
Edited on Sun May-22-11 03:42 AM by RandomThoughts
Because you see it on TV? The Christians helping starving children are preaching with there actions. I think many singers and story tellers do the same things. And even them many try to keep off of TV.

Or do you think the people that choose what they think you should see on TV are doing God's work? Would that be profitable? Or give them more control or power?

Although the people helping the starving children, are not preaching at you, they are helping starving children.

So your question answers itself, it seems you would rather have them preach at you while helping starving children, so that you don't pose silly questions. Since them doing that preaching, and it being on TV would answer your question.

They are busy helping the starving children, and figure you will figure it out, and hear what you need to hear for when you need to know it.

Makes sense to me.

That is also why there is so much spirit in so many things people just do every day. Because they don't have to 'preach' to express the better spirit of love, it comes through in anything they do.

And on that note, I am due beer and travel money, so I can get back to the bars and play pool and be around people again, so explain that one. Because not having the beer and travel money that is due does not make sense.

7. Mind boggling, I agree, the very reasons my faith taught by the church
Has found itself unbelievingly in a God such as I was taught on..... I have faith to a degree, but neither in humanity or false ideologies, my faith is personal and hates no one nor wishes harm where itbis undeserving

9. That's a good point
The Giants *did* win tonight, and the Rockies lost, so now it does make sense why God was too busy to Rapture his people.
