Just how crazy is Harold Camping? |
|
He took something all evangelicals and even the most mainstream, milquetoast of Christians believe in, and put a date on it.
We mock Camping for predicting when the rapture will happen, and we call him and his followers crazy. But all he did was attach these beliefs to a set point in time.
The real craziness is the belief in rapture. If these were sound, logical beliefs then they wouldn't sound "crazy" when attached to an upcoming date. Its easy to believe in all that hocus pocus when you are under the assumption that it won't happen in your own lifetime.

1. I think people are both amused with the end of the world and find his actions hypocritical. |
|
Many believers don't believe in the "rapture." It's an interpretation of the Bible like 76 virgins is an interpretation of the Koran. Also, believers remember the line from Mathew about no man knowing the date or time. Combine those two things and the jokes ensue. More serious believers think Camping is a heretic and "false prophet." Of course, jokes are easier.

The old fart who makes a silly prophecy, or the people that follow that prophecy and give their money and time freely in pursuit of the spread of it.

5. Not crazy...but fucking mean |
|
These assholes are standing out crowing about 'The Good News' of the Rapture.
This 'Good News' would mean that more than 4/5 of the world would suffer death as they watched loved ones and friends die in agonizing manners.
Fuck the End Times, fuck religion and fuck people that want other people to suffer simply due to birth location.

How crazy are the people that pay attention to him?
His latest?? He missed the date by 5 months. Now, it will be October 21st. I guess that means the real end will be March 2012? WOW 2012! Just like the Mayan calender!

8. The real problem lies with mainstream churches |
|
because they have failed to discredit Darby's "rapture" heresy for too many decades to count, instead claiming a phony solidarity with these nominal Christians.
Mainstream religion has dropped the ball and now desperate people are being sucked in and are losing everything to these scammers.
