Honey, I dumped our disabled kid!! (at a homeless shelter)
Edited on Wed Dec-15-10 03:59 AM by undergroundpanther

In an all-time blow to families caring for disabled kids, budget crunches are having a calamitous impact in Indiana, where state workers are advising caregivers to leave severely-disabled people at homeless shelters, the Associated Press reports.

It looks like social security is gonna get cut..I can't afford it to be cut.I will not survive.
I wrote about this problem with SSI cuts and disability in 2005.

5. If I told parents to ABANDON their own kids
At a homeless shelter, I'd might as well kill myself because I would have Betrayed my own conscience to the point I would not be able to bear the shame.

12. Kinda brings that whole murder/suicide thing into perspective, doesn't it?
I might be tempted to off myself and my kid if that was my only option.

7. "A Modest Proposal"
A Modest Proposal for Preventing the Children of Poor People in Ireland From Being a Burden to Their Parents or Country, and for Making Them Beneficial to the Public,<1> commonly referred to as A Modest Proposal, is a Juvenalian satirical essay written and published anonymously by Jonathan Swift in 1729. Swift suggests in his essay that the impoverished Irish might ease their economic troubles by selling children as food for rich gentlemen and ladies.<2> By doing this he mocks the authority of the British officials.

And the state government has already told them that it was not their policy to give advice like that.
