About 1,000 Oklahoma Guard Troops Headed to Kuwait Instead of Afghanistan
Source: Daily Journal

The commander of the Oklahoma Army National Guard's 45th Infantry Brigade says about 1,000 of his troops are headed to Kuwait instead of Afghanistan.

Original plans called for 3,200 Oklahoma troops to deploy to Afghanistan this month. But Col. Joel Ward of Claremore tells the Tulsa World about 1,000 of those soldiers are being redirected to Kuwait, where they will handle operations in and out of Iraq.

The troops heading to Kuwait are with the Durant-based 1st Battalion of the 180th Cavalry and the Chandler-based 1st Battalion of the 160th Field Artillery. They will be stationed near the Kuwait-Iraq border.

1. Ah ha! THAT's how we "withdraw" from Iraq. Park them on the border.

2. Naw. It's just to improve their tans and the guns are just a fashion statement.
Besides, we don't want them wasting their valuable time doing anything useful or beneficial.

6. Yep -- I guess we should have seen that coming.
Question is, will the majority of the American people even care?

4. Do I get a prize?
I called this about a month ago. Sounds like the other prediction will come true too about "withdrawel" from Afghanistan.

7. The US has to be out of Iraq by December 31. The 1,000 troops
will likely provide logistical assistance. Makes sense given the speed of the withdrawal, finally.

8. Does not make sense to send them to the Afghan war since pullout
of logistics troops starts in July there.

9. Except that may not be the case.
We have 45,000 there still. We are not in any hurry to actually leave and are pressuring Iraq to ask for US troops to stay.
