Found today on the Milwaukee Urinal/Sentinel blog re: Making recalls in Wisconsin more difficult

Recalls take a massive effort. Thousands of volunteers must take time away from family for work that is anything but fun. The protests take considerable effort and time as well
Nobody wants this. You really have to feel backed into a corner to do it.
As for the so called Repub majority, they were unable to muster the necessary effort to recall more than 3 Dems, and even then under the cloud that they have have used morally dubious methods.
This Governor has a tin ear. His agenda was unknown while running for office. He has revealed himself a tool of corporate interests, and he has removed what many consider to be rights (I know the slaves like to think of them as "privileges"). These rights were enshrined by our great local progressive leaders of the past.
For many Wisconsinites, what is at stake is the very middle class and democratic rights that this state was at the forefront in creating.
We did not look for this fight, but now we have it, and we will fight. We may lose, but better to fight than go down as willing slaves to corporate interests.
