Why, Can someone explain?.. Illinois....4.19 a gallon, Northern Milwaukee 3.59
Edited on Tue Jun-21-11 06:35 PM by Stuart G
..Sunday, 6/19.. I went to Milwaukee for a day trip.

On the corner of Dempster and Skokie Blvd. in Skokie Illinois
.. an Exxon station had a price of $4.19 a gallon for regular unleaded.
In the northern suburbs of Milwaukee, there were a number of stations at 3.59 a gallon for regular unleaded.

A distance of 82 miles by my calculation, and 15 percent.
Now that is quite a spread.. 60 cents a gallon.
14 gallons..or $8.40 cents difference for my purchase of 14 gallons. (that I saved in a northern Milwaukee suburb.)

Someone out there...tell me why?

2. It does have something to do with Taxes
but I've found that in the biggest cities, Chicago, LA, New York, the price is generally higher then normal.

in Skokie Ill taxes...add 10 percent to price
in northern Milwaukee suburbs.. taxes add 5.l percent to price

that accounts for 20 cents a gallon ....

what about the other 40 cents difference?? or ten percent..?
