History scraps 'Kennedys'
History Channel has pulled the plug on The Kennedys, an expensive miniseries on the First Family that stars Greg Kinnear as the president and Katie Holmes as Jackie.

The channel had talked up the eight-part project, filmed last year, and produced by Joel Surnow (24), and had tentatively set an early March premiere date.

But Surnow, an avowed conservative, raised suspicions over his agenda, and early on Kennedy family supporters cast aspersions on historical inaccuracies in an early draft of the script.

The network had stood by the project, despite its liberties with some details of the Kennedy family, but apparently got cold feet: Friday, History issued a statement noting that "while the film is produced and acted with the highest quality, after viewing the final product in its totality, we have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand. We recognize historical fiction is an important medium for storytelling and commend all the hard work and passion that has gone into the making of the series, but ultimately deem this as the right programming decision for our network."

1. I'm glad they canned it
I've had enough of History with all the Apocalypse and End of Day's shit this so called historical take on the Kennedy's wasn't going to amount to much more than that brand of fantasy.

After reading this though I wouldn't mind seeing the show just to see how fucked up it is.

3. If it doesn't meet the same level of truth as Nostradamus and UFOs..
they shouldn't show it.

15. Who did they think they were anyways....
Oliver Stone?

We already have a theatrical release rife with historical inaccuracies, who needs an 8 part cable show doing what has already been done?

17. The Kennedys would not be a fit for the History Channel unless ..
unless there was an extraterrestrial connection.

Or one of the Kennedys was a sasquatch.

Then it would be History Channel material.

:hi:

19. They'd have to cut back on Nazis, Doomsday, Freemason, Nostradamus, and Bigfoot shows
Can't have a TV series that might have some actual historical significance.
