Don't call the number on the Mike Huckabee ad (1-800-771-1705)

There is a commercial urging the repeal of the health care reform law starring our favorite huckster, Mike Huckabee and urging viewers to call 1-800-771-1705 to "sign" a petition. The recording asks the caller to say "Yes" or "No" to supporting the petition. I don't know what happens if one answers "Yes" but a "No" response gets you a website address then it hangs up.

My friends at DU, please don't call 1-800-771-1705 to hear Mr. Huckabee's dumb spiel.

Please don't call 1-800-771-1705 because Mr. Huckabee will have to pay for your call to them.

Please don't call 1-800-771-1705 every day because it is just less than a minute of a recording.

Please don't call 1-800-771-1705 every hour because the message probably won't change.

Whenever I hear or see Huckabee, I remember him sharing his fondness for squirrel cooked in a crock pot. But that won't influence me to not call his 800 number.

22. For me to call on my cell phone would cost me money

I get only a certain number of minutes for the prime calling times (weekdays before 9:00 p.m.). So I'll be sure not to call him, and run up his bill, thereby running up my own bill. That would be just stupid, as well as morally wrong.

Of course, now I'm curious about whether his line is available on weekends, so I suppose I could call and find out.

For that matter, given his religious background, I wonder if he disables it on Sunday? Maybe I should call tomorrow to find that out? That's not harassing him, it's just getting information for my theological guidance.
