Still Thick Oil in LA-BP Needs To Be Held Accountable
Edited on Sat Jan-08-11 09:32 AM by PhillySane
While the fed's commission spreads the blame around, people in Louisiana and wildlife there are still threatened by thick oil in their marshes and even forgotten booms filled with oil no one bothered to remove, five months after the well was capped. This is still a huge environmental disaster, and we better not just quickly forget it. BP, Halliburton and Transocean need to get their asses in there and finish the job! Americans need to hold them accountable until they've cleaned ALL the oil. Don't forget The Spill! Boycott BP!

"When the tide is out ... you can see thick oil onto the water for 30, 40 feet out," the parish president said. "There's been no mechanism to clean that up thus far."

1. There will be oil in those marshes 20 years from now, if Exxon-Valdez is the example to follow.
They never fully cleaned up their mess in Alaska. They pulled out after about 40% of the spill was cleaned up. The local communities up there still care about the oil that you can find when you turn over a rock, but nobody else seems to care anymore, and nobody has the money to make a multi-billion dollar goliath act responsibly.

4. There will be no serious accountability

Bad for business, ya know?

Loose ends will be tied up, liabilities will be swiftly disposed of(before they can be accurately ascertained), 'cranks' will be dismissed.

Gotta move forward....

Capitalism rules.

8. Yup, you pretty well nailed it
No way is a Republican house going to punish them, and our president surely isn't going to do anything he'll be yelled at

6. I hope we're not all just giving up
and walking away from the worst environmental disaster on record. That would be a shame. Seems like more and more people have just fallen into the Nothing Can Be Done About It box, and that's exactly what the oil companies want. Don't buy their products! Protest! Fight back!
