I tend to believe the denials as the story developed into the realm of incredibility.

1. John proposing marriage within a month of his wife's death.
2. John bringing his two families together at a dinner to unify them.
3. Rielle crying for joy that they will be one big happy family.
4. And the piece-de-resistance: Rielle telling Cate, Emma Claire, and Jack to call her "mommy".

The fourth item is too insensitive, even for John Edwards. I don't believe the press releases, though I wouldn't put it past Rielle Hunter to have forwarded them to press the issue of marriage.
