I've talking trends for a while and one of the trends
is the increase in violence, leading to something really ugly. Folks this is a ratcheing up of the trend that we are going down the road to ugly territory. We still can pull back, but it will take quite a bit of REAL leadership... the kind that we really have not had. This includes the GOP leadership calling on people like Glen Beck and Palin for their second amendment remedies (They are scared of them), and for the PRESIDENT of the US to actually use this, rally event, to call for calm, and to call for something akin to the fairness doctrine. Personally I do not expect either, but I will be pleasantly surprised if this happens.

1. Yes. We also need to feel like our leaders have the country's best interests at heart.

Everyone has to reflect on what they can do to create a common purpose.

2. There is that, but situations like this
tell the mettle of the leaders, So Mr. Speaker, we are waiting for TRUE leadership, the same goes for the President. And the Speaker, since this is the house, is already late.

7. This kind of reminds me of the George Wallace shooting.
Shopping center parking lot. I suspect it will be several hours yet before we know anything but speculation. There's plenty of that on DU. Truly a horrible, terrible event. Bad day for America.

10. My only firm speculation is that this is
ratcheting up of the violence... and not a good sign.

8. This is part of the rw violence that we have seen over the last years.
but you are right she is a congressperson and that ratchets it up. This is an attack on a government official. I hope the young man they have arrested can be encouraged to talk about who influenced him to do this.
