I'm here in Tucson and am watching the wall to wall local broadcast...
They have people on site and there was a brief press conference from the UMC medical center with NO NEWS ABOUT HER CONDITION!!!
Wait one...
The doc is speaking now... (2pm MST)
10 patients. 1 died. 5 critical. 5 in surgery. Rest stable...
Giffords is in critical condition. Doctor is optimistic about recovery. She's following commands. Through the head...
She was shot in the head... Through her brain... Her surgery has been completed...
(by the way, UMC has one of the best trauma centers in the country)
The dead person was a young child - about 9 years old...

I'm considering this a good opportunity to hound the bile-filled hate radio that motivates and energizes this kind of shit off the air in our town...
