Who remembers the day James Brady died?
The day President Reagan was shot. He was Reagan's assistant and the media announced that he was dead, except he wasn't. Still alive 30 years later.

1. I do.
And I think his wife was an advocate for gun control.

5. Reagan went to surgery and asked the surgeon if he was
a Republican. He took a bullet, but his injury wasn't nearly as bad as Brady's, which was much more debilitating.

8. I think the OP is expressing a sentiment about media misinformation
For a solid hour our major news networks reported that Congresswoman Giffords had died.

4. Yep, very sad that he was and is brain damaged.
And then there was a Secret Service agent, Tim somebody, I remember who took a bullet in the gut -- you could see him in the tape twirling in a circle from the bullet's momentum.

9. The Secret Service agent survived-
it went all the way through his belly but missed his spine and they were able to put him back together.

6. I remember Frank Reynolds going apeshit on the air
"Is he dead, or isn't he?!" All the conflicting reports. Frank went a little overboard, and ABC brought someone else to cover the assassination attempt.

11. One of the great moments of live television...
"Let's get it nailed down...somebody...let's find out! Let's get it straight so we can report this thing accurately!"

10. My point is that the media made a mistake then like they did today.
They had him dead for a few hours and then they had to come back and say he was alive and in surgery.
