Has it occurred to anyone that Obama's proposal may be strategic?
Since he can reasonably assume that the Republicans will -never- agree to net revenue increases, this could be a way to frame the Republicans as so irresponsible that it's not worth negotiating with them further.

7. I agree with Obama's proposals may be strategic.
He just better pull it off without cutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicade. If the Dems do that, good. If not, there needs to be some drastic changes in this country because BOTH parties don't listen to their constituencies.

8. You know, after all that has happened they need no other
'frame' to play hardball. Sorry. The whole 'if we say this, then they will do that, and THEN we can call them out' tap dance is just daft in the extreme.

9. So, offer them everything else that they want, expecting that they will reject it due to
Revenue Increases. When does he say something like, "I tried to let you have it all, but you rejected it all, so now I'm going to do what my base wants"?

15. Surrender as strategy. It's possible.
It could be that he's exhausted and is ready to take to the lecture circuit. I can't really say that I blame him if that's the case. When a man who believes that compromise is the solution to every problem negotiates with parties who make no concessions, there is no winning strategy.
