"Entitlement" means that we, not the government, holds title to the money. It has always been our money, and is not money the government is giving us. They do not own it and cannot 'cut' it anymore than your bank can 'cut' your savings account. Anyone willing to steal it is a thief, no more and no less, and belongs in prison. And not a nice one. Rikers, or a tent city, or the equivalent.

3. When did EVERYONE start calling them entitlements?
I remember when only conservatives called them entitlements in the same way they called it the Clean Air Act, and NCLB, and the Death Tax. No good Democrat, liberal, progressive, or leftie would dare call them entitlements not too long ago. But as usual, we let THEM frame the discussion. Just like pro-life. Still too many of us use that term. STOP IT!
Call everything what it is.

Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. Not "entitlements" all lumped together. Oh and pro-choice and anti-choice.

That is all.
