Durbin is on Bloomberg talking about Social Security and Medicare, out of two sides of his mouth.
In one instance he is saying "basic" social security would remain intact, and whatever they do would make social security stronger, and in the next sentence, saying they can get rid of waste in those programs. And what is waste? He mentioned cost of living as one.

So let me understand, if it costs more to live, you are cutting benefits to social security.

This is a snow job, pure and simple

4. Durbin voted to cut Social Security Benefits by 22%
He was on the Catfood Commission, and was one of the majority who voted for the recommendations.

6. I cannot believe I donated to Durbin's
campaign. He'll see his individual contributions plummet.

8. Well, you know there really isn't any inflation
I mean, gas prices have gone up, food prices have gone up, utilities prices have gone up - you know all of those things that are necessary for survival, but there is NO inflation according to the CPI.

9. "making SS stronger" = cutting benefits
Because in their mind, stronger means "lasting longer before the trust fund runs out". It could mean "increasing revenue"by lifting the cap but we haven't heard them calling for that much.
