Don't blame me, I voted for....

Found this among stuff I'd packed from two moves ago. From back when I was young and could still dream.

1. Mondale was my first vote
Sort of set the stage for what to expect over the ensuing years.

3. If he had won
There would be no institutional deficit.

The budget would have been balanced by 1992.

We would never have known the names Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, or Oliver North.

There would never have been a Gulf War.

We would have never have heard the words "Iran" and "Contra" used together in a sentence.

I could go on and on.

But sadly some people are just too smart and too honest to be President.

6. That was my first vote too.
I missed voting for Carter (or rather, against Reagan) in 1980 by a 10 days.
I've been voting for DINOs and losers ever since.

2. 1984 was the first presidential election I could vote in and I proudly voted Mondale
he never would have proposed cutting Social Security, too. He was a proud New Deal/Great Society Democrat.

4. Mondale was my third/fourth candidate in the Primary...
...and I knew he was going to be a poor candidate, even though I spent the entire fall working for him. When you're trying to rally your voters IN NYC in October, the odds are stacked against you.

5. Gary Hart would have been the stronger candidate
but it still doesn't change the fact that Mondale was right about everything he said.

7. Me, too. I don't have any buttons from that election, though.
Cool!
