Average Monthly SS check: $1177.00-- proposed cut: 22% |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-07-11 08:47 AM by trumad
$258.94
1177 minus 258.94 = 918.06
Throw in the no cost of living adjustment that is being kicked around.

link because I'd like to read the whole thing and also to know who wrote it so I know how much weight to give it.

9. Got the 1177 from Google |
|
that's the average. The 22 percent came from the debt commission...and the cost of living is what I'm reading today as being floated around.
Not saying it's going to happen... but that is what is being proposed by some.

19. I already know an 85 year old woman |
|
who works several days a week cleaning houses to be able to afford food. Both she and her husband worked their whole lives. She as a hair stylist and he at the farmers co-op.
Seems we have money to fight discretionary "wars" but no money to care for our own people. We have pretty fucked up priorities. I'll not be voting for anybody who supports this kind of shit to retain their position.

My Medicare premium of $96.40 is automatically deducted from my check. My Medicare supplement monthly premium is $161. When you do the math it's not hard to see how far in the hole I'll be if I lose 22% of my benefit.
