Every time I think about Democrats dealing with Republicans on Social Security this is what I picture in my mind:

1. I just hope they start building more bridges. I need some place to
move is this comes to pass. Why is there no discussion re the 14th Amendment as a way to at least temporarily solve this?

2. geitner mentioned it
but as you note, it's only a temporary delay. in whose interest is that?

all it does is prolong the situation, which most likely would create an anti-incumbent attitude for democrats going into campaign season while it probably scores points for republicans with their confrontational base.

i think obama's right to want to get a deal done and out of the way, i just hope it's a good one. well, at least a tolerable one.

6. What a great website!
Thanks for the link. I'm sorry you had to use it. I thought the photo was well known, an icon of sorts.

4. I think that the 2010 election has shown that the Dems are out of mulligans.
If they continue to play softball while the Republicans continue tossing bricks, Dem voters aren't going to just going to lube up their rear-ends and say "sure, go ahead, I'm used to it!"

The Republicans' economic ideas don't work. They have never worked. Unless we make a stand now, we aren't going to have an economy or a country left to worry about.
