The OP is a perfect example of Icon protectors in action- throw out a bunch of smears, with no backing, and stir shit up. Each time Obama betrays the left, they go into action to try and keep people distracted until it is too late. The only thing that matters is that The Icon be beloved at all costs.

Please point out the "bunch of smears" in my OP. I made three statements, 1: I said that the Post claims that Obama may cut SS - I have the article in front of me and the sub-head reads "Cuts offered in debt talks", so that statement is a fact. 2: I said that the White House denies it - A WH spokesperson has issued a statement that any claim that the President approves of cuts to SS "overshoots the runway", so my second statement is also a fact. 3: I said that DU is imploding - the front page at the time of my OP was filled with back-and-forth flame wars regarding the topic in question - while you may debate whether or not my statement was a fact, it would require one Hell of a stretch to label it a "smear". 4. I said that it appears that some things never change at good old DU - do you seriously wish to dispute that?
So, there it is. That was my post for which you accused me of "throwing out a bunch of smears", and "stirring shit up". Will you agree that I didn't say a fucking thing to indicate where I come down on the issue? Your inferences are not my problem, but at least from this perspective, you have succumbed to the DU "Ready, fire, aim" disease. That saddens me, because, as I said, I respect you ... Hell, use the search feature, I'm pretty sure I have referred to you as a "DU treasure" on more than one occasion.
Oh, well, I'm pretty sure that my disappointment won't keep you awake tonight any more than your accusations will disturb my sleep.

word games. This issue is way too important for weasel worlds and spin. The WH issued more slippery Beltwayspeak. It did not deny as you claim, it tried to mitigate and distract. It would be easy for them to be clear as a bell, but they are muddled and vague instead.
