15. I've been watching all the British discussions
which have given me another take on things. It would seem that there are those who are TERRIFIED about busting Murdoch's stranglehold on politicians in the UK and others who see this as an opportunity to challenge it.

And again, the Aussies, whose media landscape is nearly wholly owned by Murdoch are getting NO INFO.

5. Trying to wiggle out and save the BSkyB deal. But, I would be
amazed if Rupert Roo confined his hacking to NoW, or even, the UK.

6. Ja, Klar... ABER
This move is a PR "Hail Mary." All proceeds from Sunday's edition will be "donated to charity." And of course everyone will want a copy of the "last edition" to offer on e-bay at a later date. Murdoch OWNS British politicians. We'll see if those who object to that reality prevail...

21. But the UK has two things that the US does not have, The Guardian
and the Independent who are not afraid to say Murdoch. I watched a report by a US TV news show that reported on the scandal, but failed to mention News Corp, News International or Murdock. Made it sound like the paper was an independent.

8. Next....NOT on Fox News!
The silence in all of cable TV about this rather explosive scandal is telling.

12. Ebenso, mein lieber Jung!
:loveya:

I just wonder how many are able to see the big picture aspect of these developments. I was struck several days by Papandreou's declaration that the financial systems are more powerful that the will of the people. ;-)

This is simply a rebranding exercise.

17. Truebrit, I do see this as a textbook case
of how "financialization" is destroying what's left of our "democracies." Is this parent company fit to take over Britain's media? The Aussies are in the dark. Wonder why?

18. The real scandal is how all of this is not stopping the govt from moving forward on his complete..
...takeover of BskyB...

I think this will still face more and more opposition as the Conservative Govt's role in this scandal becomes clearer..but at the moment it is still on track...
